Councillor Jerry Lodge Portlaoise

The Board and management of Portlaoise Enterprise Centre were sad to learn of the death of our vice-chairman Councillor Jerry Lodge on Tuesday 3rd April 2018.  Jerry was a long-standing member of the Board of Directors of Portlaoise Enterprise Centre and was passionate about helping and supporting start-up and growing businesses.

A Portlaoise man, his commitment to his town was legendary.  He served the people of Laois and Portlaoise for more than half a century, celebrating his 50th year in politics in 2017. He was involved with many local organisations, including but not limited to, Portlaoise Tidy Towns, the Dunamaise Arts Centre and the Laois School of Music.  He also sat on the Boards of Management of St. Mary’s C.B.S. and Clonaslee College.  He was a member of the Governing Body of the Institute of Technology Carlow and chairperson of Laois Offaly Education and Training Board.

He was a respected member of our Board of Directors who made valuable contributions to the development of the Enterprise Centre over a long number of years.  His gentle manner and useful advice will be missed at our boardroom table.

Our sympathies to his wife Patricia, sons Damien and Pauric and his extended family.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
